DESCRIPTION:Council President Pro Tempore Nury Martinez proudly presents El Grito Los Angeles 2019 featuring Los Tigres del Norte \nEl Grito will take place at the City Hall Spring Street steps and Grand Park on Sunday\, Sept. 15\, 2019\, beginning at 5 p.m. This is the City’s 80th El Grito event and will feature additional musical acts\, food and art vendors\, and kids’ activities. \nCouncilwoman Nury Martinez is the City’s 2019 El Grito Madrina (Sponsor). Martinez is the first Latina to serve as Council President Pro Tem\, and represents Council District 6\, in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. \nEl Grito (The Cry of Dolores) celebrates Mexican Independence from Spain in 1810 and commemorates the moment Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang the bell of his church and gave the pronunciamiento (call to arms) that triggered the Mexican War of Independence. \nThe City of Los Angeles is home to the second largest population of Mexicans outside of Mexico City. DESCRIPTION:Homelessness Resource Fair April 20: Learn How You Can Help Solve Homelessness in LA \nHomelessness in LA is a complex issue. So many people want to help solve homelessness in their communities\, and don’t know where to start. Our Homelessness Resource Fair is a starting point where Angelenos can learn how they can start making a difference right away. \nYou’ll be able to connect to other local advocates for the homeless and organizations that provide homeless services\, and learn how you can extend these services to homeless neighbors in your own community. At the Fair\, you’ll also hear from government agencies who will present an update on their projects and policies (including Measures H and HHH\, and A Bridge Home). \nThis event is organized by the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment in partnership with the office of LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis and the office of Mayor Eric Garcetti.
