SUMMARY:Rent Registry Forms Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This month’s Rent Stabilization Ordinance offering will be working sessions to provide assistance to landlords and property managers in filling out the 2018 RSO Rent Registry forms. The Los Angeles City Council enacted the Rent Registry Ordinance (#184529) effective October 4\, 2016. This Ordinance provides that landlords must submit rent amount and tenancy information on a form prescribed by HCIDLA for every rental unit subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO). In order to timely complete the annual registration and receive a 2018 Registration Certificate\, the rent registration and payment of fees must be completed by February 28\, 2018. SUMMARY:Be an Informed L.A. Renter Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Free Workshops: October 2017 \nThe Los Angeles Housing & Community Investment Department (HCIDLA) believes in the importance of informing tenants about their rights and responsibilities\, as well as resources available to them as renters. This workshop will focus on becoming a well–informed renter and provide information and handouts with tips on how to build a positive landlord/tenant relationship. Recent changes in the law\, such as the Tenant Buy Out Notification program\, will also be covered. \nLearn how the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) affects you and how the HCIDLA ensures the safety and habitability of rental units through the Systematic Code Enforcement Program (SCEP). \nThe RSO generally covers rental units built before October 1978\, with the exception of one single-family dwelling on a single parcel. Landlords are required to register all RSO units annually and pay a fee to cover program costs. \nThe workshops will be presented by HCIDLA’s Rent Stabilization and Code Enforcement staff along with the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) and will focus on tenant education. \nRSVP: Online or at 213-928-9075 \n(Free Admission\, seating is limited) \nIf you need translation\, please request it at least three days in advance of the workshop.
