As we close the chapter on 2023, it’s heartening to reflect on the progress and camaraderie we’ve fostered in the North Hollywood West community. This year, more than ever, has underscored the importance of community spirit and collective effort. Whether it was through our engaging neighborhood events, artistic endeavors, or civic engagement initiatives, each step we took was a testament to the power of unity and collaboration.
Let’s take a look at what we accomplished in 2023. One of our key roles is to be the voice of the community. We spoke directly to City Hall on these important items:
- Council File 23-0867 to instruct the Police Department (LAPD), with the assistance of the Fire Department, City Administrative Officer and the Chief Legislative Analyst to report to Council on resources required and potential funding sources for operating the Fireworks Buyback Program in every LAPD Bureau for the 4th of July holiday, as well as with a plan to expand the Program to include more locations and other firework heavy holidays.
- Council File 23-0914 to instruct the Chief Legislative Analyst and City Administrative Officer, with the assistance of the City Attorney, Department of Transportation, LA Sanitation and Environment, Department of City Planning and other relevant departments, to report back with recommendations for a citywide program that would restrict oversize vehicle dwelling in residential areas, commercial corridors and other sensitive uses, while designating streets where oversize vehicle dwellings can park with access to services, including housing navigation, portable restroom facilities, automotive repair and septic tank waste disposal. Long-term RV parking on city streets negatively impacts our community’s quality of life.
- Council File 12-1824-S2 to instruct the City Attorney and Chief Legislative Analyst, in coordination with the City Administrative Officer and the Departments of Building & Safety, Housing and Planning, report back with recommendations to make enforcement more effective to deter violations of the Loud and Unruly Gatherings Ordinance and the Home-Sharing Ordinance, including increases in fines and other penalties, as well as implementing a cost recovery system that is specific to the enforcement against party houses

NoHo West President Greg Wright shares his vision, “As we look towards 2024, let’s carry forward this spirit of togetherness. Let’s continue to build on the foundations we’ve laid, welcoming new ideas and perspectives, and strengthening the bonds that make our neighborhood not just a place to live, but a place to thrive. Together, we can face any challenge and seize every opportunity to enhance the quality of life for all our residents.”
