Providence offers FREE Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Trainings which teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The training is held virtually 8:30am-2:30pm via ZOOM.
We have tailored trainings for you to choose from:
-Adult Mental Health First Aid
-Youth Mental Health First Aid (for any adult working with youth ages 12-18)
-Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults
Teaches you how to Identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders.
What It Covers:
- Common signs and symptoms of mental Illness and substance use
- Depression, anxiety, and psychosis
- How to interact with a person in crisis
- How to connect the person with help
- How to apply the 5-step action plan in a variety of situations
- Updated content on trauma, addiction, and self-care
As a requirement people need to have access to a laptop or computer and reliable Wi-Fi connection. In addition, the participant will need to register via a phone call to our call center (818)847-3860 or email: communityhealthteamsfv@providence.org, create a mental health first aid account, and complete a self-paced 2-hour pre-course work prior to the start of the training.
