Slope Planting Brings Color to Community

We are pleased to report that the Whitsett slope near the North Hollywood Mural was recently planted. The new drought tolerant native plants include more flowering bushes to add more color to the slope. We are working with Woods Maintenance to make the slope even more beautiful than before.

Free Flights and Family Fun at Whiteman Airport Aviation Festival Families from across the San Fernando Valley are invited to attend the Whiteman Community Aviation Family Festival on Saturday, June 27, 2026, a free day of aviation, education, and family fun at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima. Event Details Whiteman Community Aviation Family Festival Saturday, June 27, 2026 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 12653 Osborne Street, Pacoima, CA 91331 Free Admission and Free Parking Hosted by EAA Chapter 40, the festival brings the community together to experience aviation up close through aircraft displays, STEM activities, educational exhibits, career and college booths, aviation presentations, food trucks, face painting, and other family friendly activities. A highlight of the event will be *free Young Eagles introductory flights* for youth ages 8 to 17, made possible by EAA volunteers and pilots. Whether you're interested in aviation, looking for educational opportunities for your children, exploring future careers, or simply looking for a fun family activity, there's something for everyone.
It's Basic Black Adoption Weekend The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation is sponsoring the Basic Black adoption weekend event happening at all six LA Animal Services Centers on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14.
